Hungover From The Festive Season? Here Are Some Tips

After a wild night of cards and drinks, we need to do something about those hangover to ease out the headache, nausea and sense of feeling like shit in the morning, right?

1. H2O (Water)

Water is one of the first thing you do a hangover and it is the most effective solution. Alcohol is a diuretic and causes dehydration, so drinking water in the morning helps rehydrate and eases the pain. If possible, before falling into bed, down 16 to 20 ounces of water and the next time you go out, order a glass of water with every glass of alcohol to rehydrate quickly.

2. Sports Drink

The diuretic effect of alcohol causes the body to lose some electrolytes but it’s important to replace them straight away. A recent study shows that Gatorade (or any sports drink) isn’t better after a hangover than water from your tap, so save your money and drink filtered water.

3. Coffee

Most of us after a hung over night have a cup of coffee in the morning to feel alert at work. But coffee will have just a short term effect, and too much intake of caffeine can both treat and cause headaches and migraines. Studies show that caffeine leads to dehydration, so make sure you consume a glass of water afterwards.

4. More Alcohol

Many people believe (especially youngsters) that the cure to hangover is never to get one sand instead have more alcohol. This is a bad idea as it might prolong the time, but it will cause a much worse headache. Experts believe that this can also lead to alcohol dependency.



5. Toasts or Crackers

I you drink too much, your liver is busy digesting the alcohol and can’t handle extra work, this leads to low blood sugar levels. 7. Multi – Vitamins

Some prefer medication is the answer. Taking multi – vitamins to cure the hangover. Although, the body does not loose so many nutrients after one night, but if it helps then go ahead.

8. Exercise

A 12 Ounce Beer or 5 Ounces of Wine or 1.5 ounces of Hard Liquor – One Drink is metabolized by the body in an hour, so the theory of working out to cure hangover is a myth. It is the endorphin, release that helps boosting your mood after workout and you feel less guilt that you drank too much. But, ensure to keep yourself hydrated as you might become more dehydrated after exercising.

9. The Best Cure: Prevention

They say, that the best form of cure is prevention. If you are drinking, then you need to be responsible. But if in case you forgot or decide to let it go, here are some tips and tricks -:

  • Limit your drinks to about one every hour. Your body metabolizes each beer (or wine or shot) in about 60 to 75 minutes.
  • Eat before you drink.
  • Drink a beer and then have a glass of water.And how’s this for sobering: In research, “moderate drinking” by a man is defined as two drinks a day. More than five in one sitting is considered “heavy drinking.” So think before you order that extra round.
